NFPA 99 "PERIODIC (6) and (12) MONTH TESTING"

Hospital Isolated Power Systems (IPS) are special electrical systems which require special attention as acknowledged in NFPA 99 - Standard For Healthcare Facilities.

Periodic (6) and (12) month IPS/LIM testing by POWERSERVE is performed "after hours" - on weeknights and weekends to enable better access to these critical systems when patient traffic/occupancy is reduced.  Testing and inspection is conducted by an experienced, factory-trained field service professional utilizing test equipment and methods specifically intended for these systems and which exceed the NFPA 99 requirements.

Our objectives are to assist you in ensuring the highest level of electrical safety for your patients as well as ensuring compliance with the testing and documentation requirements of NFPA 99 and JCAHO Environment of Care - EC.2.14.

POWERSERVE offers two levels of "Periodic Testing & Inspection":

"Level 1 - Periodic"

This level of service is performed in an "on demand" fashion and includes the following:

recording of hazard current

measurement of system leakage currents

measurement of system impedance

resistive and capacitive fault simulations

calibration check of line isolation monitors

verification of associated alarms and annunciators

verification of proper room grounding per NFPA 99 and NEC Article 517

written report of conformance, test data reports

optional receptacle tension testing

"Level 2 - Annual Plan"

This comprehensive level of service not only ensures the electrical safety of patients and personnel, but also total compliance to NFPA 99 and JCAHO EC.2.14 in the areas of IPS testing and documentation.  It includes all services listed above under "Level 1 - Periodic" during two testing sessions per year for analog LIMs (and Ground Detectors) and one testing session per year for digital LIMs.  POWERSERVE monitors the testing due dates and initiates the scheduling of return trips.  The "Level 2 - Annual Plan" is guaranteed to be the most cost-effective strategy for total compliance.
